Shri Gannath Mahaprabhu is the national deity of Odisha. He is the heart of the social, cultural and spiritual life of Odisha. He is Kotikaibalyanath, liberator, Parambrahma Jagatarnath. Many hymns, jananas, chautisha etc. have been composed by reviving Shri Jagannath Mahaprabhu. Many books has written on Jagannath in Oriya literature. One of them is Upendra Bhanj’s ‘Nildrish Chautisha’. It was written during the poet’s last lifetime. The last days of the emperor Upendra Bhanj were spent in Shrikshetra. Poet Upendra has traveled to Shrikshetra several times; But in his later life he was located at Nilachal Dham. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. Some say Oriya monastery, some say Ghumsa monastery; But the third opinion is the camp monastery. This opinion has been accepted. So during the stay of Shrikshetra, the poet Upendra dedicated himself to the Lord Jagannath. Although Upendra Bhanj was a Ramopasak, he still accepted Shri Jagannath as an incarnate, full-bodied man.Upendra was a great Vaishnava poet. He studied the Shree Jagannatha theory and the cultural and spiritual traditions of Shrikshetra well.
Upendra Bhanj was Jagannath Pran. In Shri Jagannatha, he is completely successful in devoting himself to this devotional ‘Niladrish Chautisha’. It is a masterpiece of creation. The field is magnificent in ‘Niladris Chautisha’.
