There is no telling how many great men have been born in many countries of the world and made their country famous. When the noble leaders, epoch-makers, and sacrificial patriots descend to the earth, various obstacles and shortcomings arise within his scope of work.In the midst of that unsettling fire, great men can show their culmination and present their ideals to the people of the country – that is, their sacrificial lives are tested to the brim of sorrow, shining like pure gold. Among the many patriots and leaders of the world who were born and devoted themselves to the service of the country, the life of Lal Bahadur Shastri was a different kind.He began his life-long struggle by abandoning his childhood at the behest of ‘Bapuji’, a young man who had been subjected to the scourge of poverty in adolescence, earning the title of ‘Bapa Chheunda’ from his childhood,In view of this, one can never imagine that from such a low level, man can improve and gain the fortune of a great country! But as a result of his dedication, self-sacrifice, strict restraint, steadfastness, duty, and a relentless-working life, he was able to climb the extreme ladder of improvement.
Even after he became the Prime Minister of India, he was able to completely overcome the criticism that started him at home and abroad by seeing his lazy way of life, as a result of his firm working life.He once replied to his son Sunil Kumar (whom Shastriji affectionately called Bammad Das), “It will not take long for those who are condemning me today to be praised. There is no reason to be ashamed of it.” It does not seem that such a strong-willed, loyal and hard-working person was born into the world and made a place in history. Why every incident of his life is only in India, is very instructive to the young and old of the world. Many scholars have shed light on the biography of the late Shastriji and mentioned many facts; But there is no doubt that the memory of his wife, Mrs. Lalita Shastri, is the most precious.
Shastriji had written his biography during his lifetime, he would not have paid any attention to his superhuman qualities; Because he was not the kind of person who would feel proud and proud. So no one but Mrs. Shastri could explain her inner qualities. He has worked tirelessly for six months to document the biography of Mrs. Shastri, a renowned short story, poet and novelist from the Hindi literary world. Those articles have been published in a series of thirty-one articles in a series of well-known Hindi weekly magazines “Weekly Hindustan” from Delhi on June 1967.The language of the writings is so simple and universal that it is just as fascinating to readers as the lavish life of the late Shastriji. I was so excited to read the late Shastriji’s childhood essay at first that I couldn’t resist the urge to translate it into Oriya. At the same time, the enthusiastic permission of the revered Umashkarji has also encouraged me in this direction.
After I translated from the weekly Hindustan magazine, the author Umashankarji compiled the Hindi articles and published a book titled “Mere Pati Mere Devta”. In that book he has made a slight change from the original in a few places; But in the meantime that part of my translation was printed and it was not included in the first edition.
