Among the people who fought to oust the British in Odisha in the early nineteenth century, the victorious Rajguru was one of the foremost. Why is Odisha so rare in the history of India and the world that the brilliant example of sacrifice he gave his life for the protection of the motherland. History is silent on most of the biographies of the victorious Rajguru. Many of his relatives’ valuable documents and letters were stored in the Puri district office for a long time. Unfortunately, a fire broke out in the Puri district office in 1917, destroying all those valuable documents. The document was not found at the Cuttack Board of Revenue Office or the Calcutta Museum. So the activities of this great renegade man did not come to public notice for a long time.
Many years ago, an article by researcher Pandit Chakradhar Mohapatra entitled “Jayi Rajguru” was published in the then-popular magazine “Banful” from Cuttack. Based on it in the 1970s, I published an article entitled “Jayi Rajguru” on Pranath College’s birthday. A few years later, the Jayi Rajguru Smiti Parishad was formed under the rule of Birharekrishnapur, the birthplace of Jayi Rajguru. As a result, more information on the biography of the victorious Rajguru came to light. A 16-page booklet was also published in the 17th century by the efforts of Jatadhari Mishra, editor of the Memorial Council.
