This book of mine is written in the shadow of John Hospers’s (1918-2011) book, An Introduction to Philosophical Analysis. John Hospers is an American philosopher and a great spokesman for political thought ‘libertarianism’.His book ‘An Introduction to Philosophical Analysis’ is an early fundamental work in understanding the subject matter, scope, and philosophical problems.Hospers ’book helps to get a clear picture of what philosophy is, what topics fall within its scope of discussion, and what kind of knowledge the philosophy is meant to impart. This book ‘Philosophical Analysis’ of my book is an attempt to give an analytical account in Oriya of all the topics discussed in this book. The Oriya book is not a translation of the book of the Haspers, so the dialogue he has given on the issues and philosophical issues of the Hospers in his book is in Oriya,Located in the book.
Hospers’ original book was first published in the United States in 1954, and has been published four times during his lifetime. In the fourth edition of Haspers ’book he summarizes some of the main books and introduces some new topics.Although each edition has been reprinted many times, I have taken the reprint of the fourth edition, which was made before the death of Hospers, as the basis for this Oriya book.Since the final reprint of the fourth edition was published two years before his death in 2009, the book may be considered a changed expression of his sentiments. The contents of the fourth reprint book of the fourth edition as Aadhaar books are discussed in the Oriya book. The fourth edition was first published on the 1997, and has been reprinted several times.
Haspers ’books have been in the philosophy class of all universities in Odisha and various autonomous colleges since the eighties of the twentieth century. A student from class B.A., who took a class in reads a portion of the book of Hospers.Even in some universities, the book is being read as two papers. In this regard, we hope that this Oriya book will be very useful for all philosophy students in Odisha. Serious philosophical problems can be discussed in Oriya language and the philosophical definitions required for this are quite available in our language, it is my feeling.I sincerely hope that this Oriya book may be of some use to a general reader who is not only a student of philosophy, but also an ordinary reader who has some interest in learning about philosophy.
