Ratnakara Pati was born in 1881.He is an eminent teacher and essyist, studied Philosophy at Calcutta
University, taught at several colleges in Bihar and Orissa and retired as Professor of Philosophy from Ravenshaw College, Cuttack. His essays, published under the title Prabandha prakasha (1927) deal mainly
with philosophical and sociological topics in lucid prose. His other works include Bibarttanabada (Theory of evolution) and Swapnatattwa (Truth about dreams) published by the Sahitya Academy of Odisha. He also wrote a history of Western Philosophy from Bacon to Kant, entitled Modern European Philosophy, and a book in Odriya on Psychology which is still unpublished.
