Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi’s ‘Autobiography or the Application of Truth’ was first published in 1927 by the Nabjivan Trust.In fact it was successively published in Gujarati by the Gujarati weekly ‘Navjivan’ and the English translation by Shri Mahadev Desai at the same time in ‘Young India’.Efforts have been made by the Navjivan Trust to publish it in all major languages of India with the aim of conveying it to a large number of readers as a social worker to spread Mahatma Gandhi’s ideas.

The publication was initiated by the Navjivan Trust in the year 1998 with the help of the Utkal Gandhi Memorial Fund of Cuttack for the people of Odisha and Odia readers.The book has been published by the Nabjivan Trust with a discount on the price of books published in the regional language.
